INTRODUCTION 表演藝術系

 

The Shu-Te University Department of Performing Arts was established in 2006 and began enrolling students in 2007.  It is the first department of performing arts in Taiwan to integrate music, dance, drama, and production.  Through industry-academic collaboration, and by reaching out to Chinese speaking societies such as Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Macao, our department is expected to become an important cradle for cultivating the performing arts in the Chinese region.  In recent years, Shu-Te University has received numerous prestigious awards from the Ministry of Education and will continue to excel in the academic world.

 

ABOUT OUR VISION未來展望

 

Graduates of the Performing Arts Department can either choose advanced study at graduate schools in Taiwan or abroad, or find diversified jobs in the entertainment business.  Choices include song-writing or other musical composition, singing, performing pop music, producing, screenwriting and directing, acting, dance and choreography, recording engineering, sound design, lighting design, set design, program hosting, as well as other opportunities in related fields.

Wei Xu
 Winner of Best Film in the 2012 “Berlin Black International Film Festival” |

In 2011, nine students from the Department of Performing Arts traveled to Germany to participate in the “Berlin International Street Theater Art Festival”.  They performed at the festival as well as on Berlin television winning warm welcomes.

DPA graduate Wei Xu recorded on a digital single-lens camera the whole process, from its concept, through 6 months of the students’ dance training, and on throughout the entire European trip.  Her resulting documentary “Dream Searcher” was Winner of Best Film in the 2012 “Berlin Black International Film Festival”.

 


Zong-An Wu

A theme song written and performed by DPA graduate, singer/songwriter Zong-An Wu was selection as the 2017 Taipei World University Games theme song.

 

 


Shun-Yu Yang
 Director of “The Water of Life Theater Company” |

A group of the first graduates of DPA, Shun-Yu Yang, Xin-Yi Wang, Yi-Zhen Li, Ya-Ting Qiu-Liu, Pei-Li Qiu, and a number of others formed the “The Water of Life Theater Company”.  This southern Taiwan drama troupe specializes in performing the works of contemporary playwrights.

 

 


Fang-Fang Lin
Professional Theater Actor |

A former graduate of DPA, Fang-Fang Lin holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the National Taipei University of the Arts, Department of Theater Arts.  She has participated in the following performances: International Theatre Art Festival 2016 “The Goddess of Dionysus”, 2014 Riverbed Troupe “The Tour of the Thousand Circles”, the first drama of the Pirates of Fire Theatre, the original drama festival “Hippo and Elephant”, 30 Salon creation space “Monochrome”, the third classic drama festival “Chimerica”, Wei-Wu-Ying children’s music festival “Song of the Forest Tree”, Kaohsiung City Ballet “Wild Swan” and “Ke Belia”, and human dance theater “Life is a Long River”.
