CURRICULUM PLANNING 訓練規劃

● Freshman Level – Fundamental Courses

    Each artistic field is divided into its own separate course: music, dance, drama, and production.  Each course improves the students’ technical and physical abilities in the artistic field.

● Sophomore Level – Specialized Courses

  Upon completing the freshmen fundamental courses, students choose their major area of artistic expertise, and have the opportunity to participate in the faculty’s off-campus performances.

● Junior Level – Advanced Courses

    Students participate in the annual school production, and begin to prepare their own graduation productions.

Senior Level – Production and Internship

    In the first semester, student teams participate in their own self-organized graduation productions.  In the second semester, students complete off-campus internships to gain working experience for future employment.

I   Music    I

The Fundamentals of Music courses expand the freshmen-level students’ basic proficiency skills in reading, singing, and rhythm.  These courses are geared towards musicians and non-musicians alike in order to better prepare their ability to be involved in theater music.  Upon completing Fundamentals of Music I and II, sophomore-level students have the option to enroll in the Music Major courses.  Music Major I and II are more advanced courses for students wanting to major in music.  These courses focus on the music theory and music history of various important western musical styles, such as classical, jazz, Broadway, and pop.  Knowledge from these courses is then meant to be applied in performance or composition.

Fundamentals of Music I、II :

Basic music theory, sight singing, rhythm, keyboard skills, classical music history

Music Major I、II:
Tonal harmony, melody analysis, keyboard skills, four-part harmony, pop music history and style

 

I   Drama    I

Performance Foundation I :

Freshman-level students develop breathing, relaxation, vocalization, and body movement.  Students practice creating roles with the use of real scripts, and further deveIop their abilities to observe, imagine, imitate, etc. by watching other students do the same.

Performance Foundation II :

The fundamentals and concepts of dramatic performance are further developed, and performance ability is further enhanced by additional studies in physical movement, voice expression, and sensory memory.  Students also continue to discover more about their characters’ relationships with other characters on stage, and the intrinsic nature of said characters.

Drama Major I :

Sophomore-level students strengthen their performance skills and their understanding of theatrical texts; and they practice the interpretation of drama in cross-disciplinary performances, in preparation for their junior-year production.

Drama Major II :

Through studying various scripts and introducing various performing styles, professional skills are further rehearsed and performed.

                               

 

                                     I   Dance    I

Fundamentals of Dance I、II :

Beginner Class :

Students are introduced to basic dance, and begin to physically develop body coordination and rhythm.

Advanced Class :

Students who are more physically capable can expand their scope of learning various styles of contemporary dance, such as modern dance, ballet, jazz, yoga, Pilates, etc.,. It is then possible for them to blend these styles.

Dance Major I、II : 

These sophomore-level courses are designed for those students wanting to major in dance.  Main goals include strengthening the body’s muscular endurance and the precise control and presentation of one’s physical ability.  Once completed, students should be able to meet the requirements and expectations of the physical displays needed for various performance styles in professional theater.

 

 

I   Theater Technology   I

Theater Operations and Technology I、II :

These courses introduce the concepts of the basic building structure of a theater and its equipment, theater organizing, theater management and theater performance management, lighting, stage art and technology, theater administrative marketing, technical and production operations, and eastern and western theater design aesthetics.

Stage Technology I :

This course focuses on the technical aspects of theater, such as basic graphics, materials and media used in stage productions, stage functions and tools, the step by step process of a stage production, and the work content of any given single performance.

Lighting Technology I :

This course focuses on the operation and decomposition of various luminaire practices, drawing blueprints, wires and circuits, dimming equipment, power system schematics, the operation of lighting control systems, lamp operations and safety measures, and the different roles of those working in lighting technology.

Stage Design I :

This fundamental course focuses on the stage design process and the aesthetics of set design and spacing as it pertains to eastern and western theater.
